Either Mimikyu, because it's another one of those novel 'I didn't expect to see that in a fighting game' sorts, but is an absolute rape canon in game. It's be interesting to see how it translates.

My other vote is for Druddigon. Just because it looks cool and seems like it gets forgotten a lot despite the pretty unique aesthetic (one of the only dragons who looks like a fucking dragon). It'd be cool if he could pull off being popular in a spin off game.

Also Skarmory is cool, but I think if there's a bird ever added it should be Staraptor. The original Close Combat bird deserves a spot of honor.

OK, the fighting seems so unlike a Pokemon game that it looks unappealing. It looks like... Street Fighter but with Pokemon skins. 60 Base speed and he moves faster than Vega...

They really could have made this more than just a generic fighting game to be honest. They could have incorporated Pokemon stats and weakness/resistance and switching and such.

Games with online access usually have an option that the arcade operator can turn on that lets the game download updates when it connects to the internet. (which Pokken does anyway for events)

Is Pokken actually good? Is it worth the buy? I've considered getting it multiple times but could never bring myself to do it. I do have friends to play local multiplayer with, if that matters.

It's my GOTY, so i'd say so. It's also got an amazing soundtrack, the point where it's also my OST of the year.

It's amazingly fun, even when you lose. It's got competitive depth to get gud at but it's also pretty fun even if you just wanna button mash.

All that said, it's not worth getting if you aren't going to play online/with friends, the single player is just a grind against AI.

yeah because adding type match ups in smash bros worked so well

if you paid attention they have worked some the mainline games mechanics into some of the moves

eg, sceptile leaf storm lowers his attack and mewtwo has to recover after using hyper beam

Type Matchups sucked in Smash because it just screwed Ivysaur over since there is a ton of fire damage in the game and very little grass and water damage.

I've had Pokken since it was released. It's a good game; a lot of depth to the characters and a hell of a lot of stuff to unlock. A lot of mechanics are very arcade-y so that's a fun element considering how few games retain those sort of roots.

However, it's true when people say that its biggest issue is its lack of characters. It really just needs more. Like, ten more would be enough. I'm champing at the bit for these DLC characters, especially because Scizor is my favourite. I'm glad they didn't put only Pokemon with Megas in, or only Z-Moves; it's nice that the tournament in-world has its own mechanics and that helps set it apart from just being "a gen 6 game".

If you've got people to play it with, for sure get it; otherwise it's not so great. Like most fighting games it gets boring fast if you're just fighting either ridiculously stupid AI or frame-perfect cheating AI.
