Ive been a trainer for years, I just decided to travel to the alola region in order to meet new pokemon and redfine myself as a trainer. My past championship status allowed me to pull some strings in order to take on the trials as a 21 year old. Once I become champion here I finally decide to settle down as an Ice type champion. And then spend the rest of my days with my loving wife Acerola and our 2 kids.

Alola in particular has a trial for 11 year olds where the captains are close to them in age. Trainers and gym leaders, on the other hand, come in many ages and backgrounds. We have leaders as old as Pryce and Blaine and as young as Bugsy and Clemont.

Point being, yes, there's a cutesy coming-of-age trial in Alola where they enlist captains that are young enough to sort of be a role model for trial-goers, but that has no reflection on who is a trainer.

We are all trainers here, and I will be damned if anyone says differently. I can't speak for everyone, but I have been playing Pokémon for 20 years now, and it has been a fun ride. As a child, I played to enjoy a new world. As a teenager, I played to win. As a young adult, I played to collect. And now I play another generation, looking back at all of the Pokémon I have raised, caught, and traveled with. Hell, I still have my old pal Scizor from Ruby waiting to travel to this new region. I won't stop playing Pokémon until I die.
