I'm guessing it's either a 3rd form for cosmog in stars, or just your generic thing that a bad guy wants to summon and or plug a doomsday device into. If it's the latter it might get a new forme or something though

Star Dragon UB that got burried underground after a fight and the pressure completely fucked its body up.

It will get its original dragon mode form back in Stars.

Reminder that Mewtwo, Zygarde, and Perfect Dragon Kyurem are all shining examples that not every Post-Game Legendary will get an In-Depth expansion or story in the games.

In fact, the only two that did were Rayquaza and Giratina, and to a very, very lesser extend, B/W-Kyurem.

I do think Necrozma could be another exception though, if only because Stars is one of the few opportunities GF will ever have to justify doing another "third version" again, something they haven't done in 8 years now.

That would explain why Kyurem crashed to Earth, it's because it was falling through one of the UB Portals...

They're going to expand Lusamine's plan in Stars. Necrozma is a Prism so it makes Cosmog's portal powers stronger and the portals open all over the world and not just in Alola. This is to add Ultra Beasts in all future games.

But plans changed, they pushed Zygarde/Z-Moves to Alola, and dropped the Original Dragon.

Thematically, it would make sense for Necrozma to be a corrupted Cosmog since the theme of the game is parenting. Necrozma would be the original Cosmog given to the Alola royalty that turned evil due to "bad parenting". And Nebby would get an additional evolution created by Lillie and MC being "good parents".

The Original Dragon plot always... not quite bothered me, but made me think. The Original Dragon was, at least, an alien-life form that crash landed into Pokearth some number of years ago.
That itself is pretty good stuff, but the sequence of events is what gets me.
Did the Original Dragon survive the impact, and tramp around Unova for a few years before splitting because reasons, or did it split on impact, or did it split on entry, and only Kyurem impacted the site of the giant chasm?

Another solid question, why can't the DNA splicers reassemble the entire creature? is there another missing piece to the jigsaw? Is there something more fundamental preventing total reassembly?
Along with other questions. Why among box-cover tier legendaries, is Kyurem the only one that has a need to eat, and eat people on that?
Ties to Ultra space are cool, but doesn't answer other questions that need addressing.

The implication is that it split as it fell. Kyurem crashed and created the great chasm.

The Reshiram and Zekrom both crashed into the south-center area of the Region, destroying everything and creating a desert.

(Hence why that desert area between the two huge cities is so out-of place in an otherwise geographically sound Region.)

All that was left of them were the White/Black Stones.

Any guesses as to why it's head (or at least the back end) is hallow?

His story had a start before the game, an area dedicated to it, you find out the why, where and when, then mystery, then climax when you actually run into the psychopath. It was great.

Something that also concerns me is the symbol on the back of its head. If it is related to Z-crystals and it's different from all the symbols for every known type, what does it mean?

I'd love to think it was a new element, and light seems like the obvious answer, but light is already represented by psychic moves, as well as steel (flash cannon) and rock (I forget why) to a lesser extent.

Maybe we'll see a type conversion of old moves like in Gen 2.

No they were more like decorative towers. The pillars usually stood up like a really tall and thin trapezoid with a circle atop with an inner black part with a symbol that looks like you took Necrozma's and stylized it a little to be used on the logo of a video game or something.

There should be one right by the entrance of the Lake, along with one near the entrance to Vast Poni Canyon.

My running theory is that Cosmog and Co. are Ultra Space pokemon that have adapted to the "real" Pokemon world.
