It's great. Ash is finally a character instead of plot device. He gets to be cute and heroic while still showing good battle skills. The partners are interesting in their own right but Mao is a weak link. The pokemon are great too. Rowlet is fat and funny. Pikachu isn't just the mascot on Ash's shoulder. Want more of kiawe and his pokemon though. Of course once again Mao's pokemon is useless. Fatso has an annoying voice but has a few fun moments.
