I was suspicious once I realized just how many overworld Pokemon models were used in the game. With Alola's emphasis on the relationship between Pokemon and humans, seems like a perfect fit.

Considering the quality of the first entries in this gen, I have no doubt this will end up being the best Pokemon generation to date.

this is probably gen 8 gimmick. They were slowly giving more and more pokemon to overworld so they can get used to it I guess. Gen 8 region will be designed specifically with walking pokemon in mind, although I can be completely wrong since they are pretty much lazy and incompetent.

It's a general modelling thing. For certain animations that require distortion, like a body part growing bigger, it's often easier to just have the end animation of the arms modeled separately and swap which of the two is visible. It's also why you can see Bulbasaur's vines in its default model.

The animations are just obviously a bit unfinished and don't make the other arms disappear like they should.
