Level to final stage before you use it. It's actually pretty good way until you grind for all the anklets. final stage does increments by four so it's easier to manage the EVs.
I actually like EV training better in this gen because Super Training was fucking boring and tedious and you can actually harvest EV Berries without using the shitty Dream world thing.

It will, but like everyone said, it's only worthwhile at level 3 with beans in the basket.

You can fully EV train a stat in about 15-18 hours I think. so it's a good way to multitask while you level up/ev train other members of your team in the meantime.

Level 1 is 1 EVs every 30 minutes (15 with beans on the crate), and one group of six
Level 2 is 2 EVs per round, and two groups
Level 3 is 4 Eves per round and three groups

Also, the Anklets give 8 EVs now, which is fucking great with chained encounters and Pokerus.

Does anyone else feel bad about leaving one Pokemon to "play" by itself here? Reminds me of my childhood. I have to fill all 18 slots even if I'm only training one Pokemon because of that.

in my experience the EXP gains are pretty useless once you hit level 20 or so. works just like previous gen day cares, and EV training doesn't take much time either normally, but I might start using it for that if it can max an EV in not too long.

Well I'm going to be kinda busy these days so I'll just leave them for 62 sessions for each stat they need maxed.

I'd use anklets and power items but getting the points would just take longer so this is perfect for my finals week.
