Not many things will survive if the opponent lets you get a shell smash off.

Ive been running him in battle tree and no matter what I try to do to improve his defenses he always gets wrecked but sometimes he clutches for my team. I personally love my cloyster but I'm biased since he's been my favorite Pokémon since the beginning.

i used one in gen 6 battle maison.
use a focus sash on it, give it rock blast, icicle spear and ofc shell smash. it can put some serious work in.

I use a Cloyster in Gen 6 Battle Spot. It becomes one of the best sweepers after a Shell Smash but it doesn't like bulky Pokémon that resist Icicle Spear. My set is:

- Icicle Spear (Main STAB)
- Ice Shard (Priority if the opponent has priority)
- Shell Smash (duh)
- Surf (to use Sp. Attack boost)

If you don't want to use Surf then Rock Blast is your best coverage move, and Skill Link makes it to have 125 BP while breaking Substitutes and Focus Sashes.
