It's not as much as it's OP as it's painful to watch in mirror matches; there was a 50-minute match timer (plus 3 turns + tiebreaker or sudden death, we TCG now), not coded in the game, introduced at the last minute to prevent live tournaments from going on for days with the new retarded chess timer, much thanks to it (there are other bulky offenders, but it's the worst of the lot).

I need help improving my team. I've hit the proverbial wall at 1300 on the ladder and can't advance past that.

The big problems I seem to run into are bulky Pokémon, like araquanid or A-muk, as well as rain teams. Trick room teams and sun teams are easy pickings because I just counter with P2

Personally, I just find the selection of old Pokemon this year to be pretty shitty. People say restriction breeds creativity but way too much restriction can limit it as well. For example, look at how paltry are our choices of swift swimmers. That 90% of Alolamons are shitmons doesn't help either.

I'd say it's the early meta lull most of all. There's no real meta going on so everyone's just winging it with what's obviously good at first glance.

It just so happens that my team leads 90% of the time like that. I won't say it's not cancer that overcentralizes the meta, nor that my team is good because it's a super gimmicky team for fun, but I never lost with it so far against Koko Marowak, and I just don't see how it could stop Mimikyu at all. Mimikyu can also tank an uninvested Heavy Slam and Curse Celesteela if he needs to, but usually my team can kill her fine. I'm sure these kind of teams will soon adapt to include either Roar or Trick Room themselves to counter Mimikyu, but I've already faced a Trick Room Porygon 2 and just had to outplay him with careful TR usage.
