The pokemon there is kind of meh. Most of actually good one are either genwunners or the cross evolutions. Also you get good pokemon's pre-evolve pretty late while most of time you got stuck with Bidoof. Also I felt that to get good move on gen iv pokemon, you must either breed them or use TM, which most are unboughtable and 1-time use in that gen.
