I really like Joltik and Galvantula.

A tick that saps energy from other Pokemon to use as electricity is a killer concept, and making it turn into a spider that can make electric webs is just icing on the cake.

Nah, they're good, but Gen V still has that title. Galvantula, Leavanny, Crustle, Volcarona, Durant, Scolipede... all fantastic designs.

People without aracnophobia might not understand that in order to trigger it, you have to subconsciously think "The thing I'm looking at is a REAL spider".

Pokémon's spiders are cartooney, and I have the suspicion that the designers are told not to make Bug type's faces too realistic because that would easily trigger people's phobias.

The only mon that breaks this rule is Venonat. Its face is too insect like and though i've mostly grown out of my insect phobia, Venonat used to offput me because it looked too much like a real bug.

I used to be a huge arachnaphobe. Now I just don't like them crawling on me. I fear and respect them. I let them set up webs by my door to keep out bugs. Spiders are incredibly cool.
