You autists have to learn that reaching any Pokemon League, is in any region's standard, quite hard and knowing each member is rare. I would assume the media doesn't really cover them in full detail (in the lore) cause they wanted to add more mystery to who are the members.

So for Alola, when you reached Mount Lanakila's League, it's just that 3 of them you have known, Kahili is someone of Karen and Will's stature, mysterious member.

You've never paid attention to any of the E4 have you. The only set that don't have an acceptable back story were the gen 1 E4 which was rectified in the remakes.

I don't get all the salt about Kahili. Sure, she's a literally who, but she's actually mentioned before you tackle the elite four. I guess it's a bit jarring because the other elite 4 all have important roles beforehand, but Kahili still got way more ingame than the vast majority of previous E4 members.

I doubt she was ever meant to be a captain. She was probably just going to bump into you at the resort and drag you into a quest of some sort at the golf course. It might have just been cut because they had trouble coming up with a decent justification for it. If I remember right, the resort ends up being a completely pointless area that you just meet up with Lily at, then leave.

Ryuki, on the other hand, reeks of a character who was cut from the story, but ended up thrown in the game because they already had his model finished.

Kahili was fine. I like the idea of a trainer flying back to Alola for a big tournament. It makes the world feel more lived in.

What I can't forgive is how fucking shitty the final trial is. That dragon was a joke and it wasn't even fitting with Mina's typing.

Just going to give my two cents as someone who works with 3D modelling. These environments really, really don't look downscaled. It doesn't have any of the tell-tale signs, like areas that should have a lot of environmental objects having conspicuously few, or objects that take on an awkward shape when seen from certain angles. Everything about this game feels like it was made with the hardware limitations in mind. (except the battle models, obviously)

Caitlin appeared in Pt, HG and SS before appearing as E4 in Unova. You can't battle her though, but her sprite is used in conjuction with Darach.

You also don't interact with Malva until after beating the E4, so she's a literal who until then and when you meet her at the league.
