I really liked the climatic buildup for the raid on the Aether Foundation. It had a nice tense atmosphere for when you had to find out the truth about the foundation and save Lillie at the same time. You know shit was happening when even Gladion sided alongside you.

Bike/ride music was a serious mistake.

It was cute back in the GBC, especially since gen 2 bike theme is so godlike, but now it's showing its age and we really need an option to turn it off. It's especially bad in SM because the OST feels so important to the atmosphere of certain areas. Getting into a ride to clear an obstacle can straight up ruin the atmosphere of the area by interrupting the music with the awful ride theme.

I like a lot of the battle and encounter themes and very few of the towns/routes. There are a few that are nice though.

The Vs. Kahuna is my favorite so far. I love the brooding build up, that goes in to a playful melody. Really fits the battle: serious tone to prove yourself, but a playful situation because it's ultimately in good fun. Vs. Hau and Vs. Lusamine are up there too as favorites.

I spent so long listening to this when you first talk to Faba and it starts playing, I legitimately didn't want to move on. I stayed in the conversation with him for at least 20 or so minutes, I thought it was probably just his theme at first and would end when his conversation ended- was THRILLED when it kept playing throughout the building even after you regained control, easily one of my favorites.

It reminds me of the Mt. Pyre (Interior) theme, it has this "mystery" vibe to it while still being pretty quick paced, something that you can just coolly bob your head to.
On a sidenote: Is that opera-esque song that plays after the final battle with Lusamine as she collapses actually on the soundtrack? Or does it not count since it's a cutscene song and not a standard looping song?

This music felt so impactful. It sounded like sad Kingdom Hearts music at first. Then at 0:11 the vocals kicked in and it just felt so sad. Like a remorseful, longing, "I don't want to go", parting ways kind of sad. Reminded me there a lot of Cara Mia Addio from the Portal 2 ending. Just from how it sounded, it felt like it wasn't going to be a happy end, I could have sworn that Lusamine was ACTUALLY going to die right there. Honestly, I thought she DID die as she fell back down and the cutscene ended. I was honestly kinda tearing up, it was touching. Anyone else agree?

I suppose I'm "glad" she didn't die, better for Lillie that way, but I think it would've been much more impactful if she did.

Does a really good job of fitting her batshit personality with the piano, makes way better use of violin than Zinnia's theme did, and builds up beautifully at 0:35, definitely one of my favorite villain themes in the series

The only way I felt SM's OST was lacking was in the lack of trainer class-specific Spotted! themes for anything but story teams. Those were really great in XY, like the Punk and Maid ones.
