Been fishing for over an hour now and I only got Magikarps and a single Luvdisc. I start to get a little frustrated.

It also took me a really long time to find a Mareanie. I wanted one with Merciless and a non-terrible nature for my ingame team, and thankfully the first one I encountered (after half an hour of fishing bubbling spots for Corsola and another half hour of chaining those fuckers) had Merciless and a Quirky nature. Good enough, I'll breed one if I want to play competitive. Merciless might even have a decent niche in competitive, although I assume Regenerator is the better ability.

You mean, near the grass with the Bagon? Does that work? The spawns there are different, after all, I'm not sure Corsola even spawns there.

I might be wrong, but I tried five times and didn't find one before I went back to the Prof's place.

I don't really get the reasoning. I mean, what is this supposed to be, some kind of a deal? "I'll poison the fuck out of this guy, but you let me chew one of your horns later"?

The Mareanie that shows up will attack the Corsola, not the opponent (at least as long as the Corsola is around).

Even if you kill the Corsola before the Mareanie can act, it'll say that Bite has 'failed' rather than attacking you. What happens is not that Mareanie comes to help, but rather that it hears the sounds of a distressed Corsola and tries to take advantage of this opportunity to get some free food (eg the Corsola).

Same happens with Carbink, who can summon a Sableye which can try to Fury Swipes it.

What responds to Cubone is actually Kangaskhan (which will help the Cubone, not try to eat it thankfully). So the lore about it being Cubone's mother is now pretty much confirmed.
