I was busy filling my dex, so had my catching pikemon, and 5 shitmons I was working on evolving. Thankfully I had saved recently so I just reset.

This. I was hardcore training some shitmons and they snuck up on me. Very out of place considering every other major fight in the game (sans elite 4) asks you if you are ready to fight. Luckily I had my lv 70 Mimikyu with me and was able to sweep with that.

Anyway it's not so much about the fight being too hard, I enjoyed the difficulty. It's more about how spontaneous it is and you can't just back out to get prepared. Considering I was trying to train some weaker mons in the Poni Wilds when they showed up it was annoying that I couldn't have predicted it or delayed the fight

Regardless I'm not saying the Dexio fight was too hard, it just caught me off guard

I had a level 67 Decidueye with me and I OHKO every Pokemon he had except alakazam, which instead of just using spirit shackle, I z-moved him and OHKO after he used full heal. It wasn't that bad.

But I did have them with me when I wanted to explore the rest of the island. It was a un fight but ultimately not a big problem.
