Rock head has its uses. With some bulk, you could get up two Flame Chargers or a Flame Charge and SD and sweep with Blitz. I've loved Lightningrod but with Rock Head he can sweep without dying.

I would pick Rock Head if it didn't lose Lightning Rod. But as it is, Lightning Rod > Rock Head. Marowak-A is good specifically because it dunks on things like Tapu Koko. Rock Head is just gravy, Lightning Rod is the meat and potatoes. Fire Punch gets the same 2HKO's as Flare Blitz anyway with Thick Club.

Is alolan marowak hard to raise? I really wanted to use it but after finding out it has to use a move relearner to learn shadow bone and that it doesn't learn any fire moves I was put off.
How easy is it to farm for thick clubs?

During my playthrough I was dissapointed to find out it learns shadow bone at 27 while it evolves at lvl 28. fucking gamefreak

You get an Alolan Exeggutor and search for Cubones until they have Thick Club, it's moderately annoying because Cubone only pops up 24% of the time and the club itself only has a 5% chance of being on Cubone but it's not at all hard.

Get a Cubone and hit that fucker with Thief. It won't die and will start caterwauling. Hit every fucking Cubone with Thief. 20% chance of Thick Club with Butterfree eyes.

You want Lightning Rod for safe switchins and the ability to shut out meta threats. +S.Def, - S.Atk is usually preferred too because it helps it tank. It really only needs minimal Attack EVs because Thick Club makes it so fucking hefty.

Rock Head has some niche value in Trick Room teams when you're trying to sweep with it. But yeah, for general purposes Alolawak is just stronger in a supportive role.

Not just Alolan Marowak, but Shadow Bone. Shadow Bone is a fucking incredible move.

It's a physical Ghost-type move, which usually suck (Shadow Claw and Phantom Force), 100% accurate, fairly strong at 85 base power, non-contact, and has a 20% chance to lower Defense.

It blew my mind when I discovered that Shadow Bone doesn't make contact. So freaking useful.
