It's the qr scanner thing. According to the pic, when you have the scanner full and loaded, it shows you in what day, and in which island a pokemon will be available once you begin scanning

Once you've scanned 10 QR codes you get an Island Scan charge. You use your Island Scan once a day and the day of the week and island you use it on determines what Pokemon you get. So if you wanted a Litwick you'd need to scan 10 QR codes then use your Island Scan while on Melemele Island on Saturday. It'll appear and it'll tell you what route it's appeared in so you can go and catch it. And save before going to catch it because there's only the one and if you faint it you can't get it again for another week.

It should be on the second page of the pause menu under it's own category 'QR Scanner'. There are QR codes for every Pokemon in the Pokedex except for legendaries which marks them as seen in your Pokedex or you can scan random QR codes which show you a random non-Alola native Pokemon each time. So just google QR codes and scan any 10 of them and you're golden.

Just scan any QR codes you find while living your life. Injection General has people posting QRs all the time; scan some of those (scanning them is not injecting; all the scanner does is see a QR and give you data on a random pokemon in a the national dex you haven't registered yet).

The mechanics for passing down balls to offspring changed this gen. Males have the ability to pass down their ball, so it's not for females. For example, if you take a male Cyndaquil in a Fast ball and breed it with a female HA Cyndaquil in a regular pokeball, there's a ~25-50% chance that the male's ball with pass down, along with the female's HA.

When you use Island Scan, the day of the week and the island you're on determines what Pokemon you get. So if you use it on Akala Island on a Thursday you'd get a Venipede. And yes it's just one encounter.

Well, I really only need it for the ground/rock stab combo and added bulk to take hits.
My team currently has a big ugly hole for electric and flying types, so I was thinking either Rhyperior, Mudsdale or maybe Golem and something else.
