I can't for the life of me understand how we went from the PSS in XY and ORAS to this clusterfuck of a system, Everything is so clunky and poorly designed that it just kills my willingness to trade and battle other people.
I'm not sure why they thought it'd be a good idea to have the player be completely cut off from the online infrastructure while playing the campaign and concentrating it inside of this place. If you're not chatting with your friends elsewhere and want to trade with them you can't even be playing at the same time, it requires you to GO to the Plaza in order to find them in the middle of incredibly bland and poorly designed menus. Sure, you can set them as VIPs once you do find them, but how did we go from the Friend/Passerby system, that looked really neat and tidy, to a boring list? Jesus.
I'm not sure if this is GF's plan and solution for the Switch not having dual screens, but it's a poor one and really killed a lot of the charm that the online in XY/ORAS had.

That's nice and all, but I'd take a simple copy of the PSS hidden behind a button in the menu than "now save your game" and "now wait til we transfer you somewhere else" and "now you go through menus that are actually worse to navigate than the stuff we had before to find your friends" etc.
Everything about the Plaza feels really slow and grindy and... unnecessary. It could've been better implemented but as it is, just full nope for me.

It's dumb how incredibly tedious it is to level up the plaza. It's baffling how this company still thinks tedium = difficulty after all these years.
At least Magnemites were some trivial fun with thinking of dumb nicknames and what not. They could've used something like Pokémiles to level this thing up. But thinking of playing Type counter for hours to grind coins just makes my toenails roll up.

It's amazing how hyped people were about these but then it turns out they're stupidly hard to get if you don't have access to a reliable source like a high leveled lottery.

Red and Blue's poses are the most obvious ones, but things like Kommo-o's shiny colors exist too. The whole alternate dimension thing with the Ultra Beasts was probably also inspired by JoJo.

This, so much. After the third time you do the type counter thing it's already gotten old and stale. It's not even fun or challenging, it's just... repetition. Over and over and over again...
