This is why I always reattached the back to the 3DS after I put the SD card back in. It probably led to the process taking ~10 or so minutes longer but not being lazy could save me from dropping it and knocking the battery out like a retard.

If you have a N3DS you can use the SciresM patch with Hans so you can inject with QRcodes, you only need homebrew(which literally you can't brick since it only works on userland)

Also i think Smea said that he was going to fix Hans so it loads extended memory games on O3DS 'in a few weeks' so you might want to wait if you have an old 3ds
