the game becomes overly reliant on STAB since most things don't have much else for a movepool. a couple of pokemon who have great level-up movepools can be sweepers (like gyarados) but the entire game shifts to a completely defensive game because offensive powerhouses don't have the coverage for things that resist their STABs anymore.

eww. they should do this, honestly the thing that needs to be absolved is egg moves. just have tutor that can teach any move the pokemon can. its ridiculous how many hoops you have to jump through to teach a certain pokemon a certain move.

Not as bad as what we had during Gen I with respect to movepools, but you get thrown for a loop how many Pokemon need TMs, even in-game.

Like, I don't think Magneton actually learns Thunderbolt on its own.
