Got into a discussion with one of my normie friends about this. I pointed out this only works if you ignore all the rivals except Blue/Gary. He said it works even if you consider them, which I think implies that the only criteria that needs to be met is similarity to one rival.

Every time someone brings up this "you're the rival" shit it means they don't actually know what the word "rival" means. It's a mutual relationship, you're rivals with eachother. "Rival" isn't a word describing one person's role in a relationship.
