The story was better than usual this game, I think people who complain about Lillie's relevance to the story are idiots.

I'd rather have another story centered around decent characters than having the usual story with your bland, mute MC doing the usual "defeat the evil team in between gyms" routine.

I support your view. There are a lot of valid criticisms of this game but the story being focused around Lillie isn't one of them. She is the most interesting character in the whole game and I was pleased every time I interacted with her. I only wish I could have even more ways to interact with her, similar to VNs. And maybe make other characters more important to the story.
