Kuhanas made sense. Nanu not being there is dissapointing but it fits his character and I like how its discussed in game. Kahili(?) was weird though, really should've either had her shown earlier or a different character.

Kukui being champ was fine, he was the one who organized it. I do wish it could've been the masle royal though.

I think its justifiable. I mean, they had just built the whole thing, and they needed people to fill the elite four. I think volunteering kahunas is a good idea instead of ushering in nobodies that we've never heard of.

Having Kukui as champ was fine by me, although, masked royal would be fucking awesome. Not a fan of fighting the Kahunas again.
Acerola was a great pick desu. She's a great character and I love seeing ghost type in E4

Well yeah, they did at least partially so they could reuse assets, but it makes sense.
If you were forming a league, the top trainers of each island would be serious candidates. I'm just glad they didn't go all 4 kahunas as elite 4.

I prefer this direction. Having the E4 being familar faces easily surpasses the E4 being randos we've never seen before...Caitlin and Koga aside.

The idea was to have it be the four Kahunas, but Nanu told Kukui to fuck himself (so he got replaced by Acerola) and Hapu got the position too late.

But also, Nanu is unfit to be E4. He seems like an unreliable dude, and the Elite 4 are meant to be the most serious trainers around. He's just not cut out for that type of responsibility.

Hapu totally is though, I would honestly rather have had her than some random bland ass bitch. And as others have said in this thread, Masked Royal was begging to be champion.

All in all though, it was one of the best Elite 4's in the series.

If you go by Gym Leader/Elite Four/Champion standards, it's really the same amount of characters introduced.
Ilima, Lana, Kiawe, Mallow, Sophocles, Accerola, and Mina for Gym Leaders (one short)
Hala, Olivia, Nanu, and Hapu for the Elite Four
Introduce Kahili and you have your 12 type specialists.

Sure, you can say that Kukui serves the professor role more than the Champion role (and it's true, he does), but this game does have more type specialists that can be rematched (akin to Gym Leaders/Elite Four) than most.

Plus, there's Gladion and Hau as your all around teams. Stars should really make Wicke a rematchable Ice-type trainer.

Kahili wouldn't have been a literally who if you didn't have to explore the completely fucking optional Hano Hotel in order to get some some of backstory on her, and not even good backstory either.

That being said, her character design is super cute and being the first Flying representative for the Elite 4 has to count for something. Her golf club has Toucannon colors which is awesome

Kahili said she was once the Island Challenge Champion which involves beating all four of the Kahuna, so it isn't surprising she'd knock one of them out of the position of Elite Four.

They're not
You can rematch some of them once (depending on the version. some just in moon, some just in sun) and that's it

The rest might occasionally appear to fight you during the E4 title defenses but it's not granted
