Midday form has a better stat spread and a unique move (a rock type quick attack). Midnight just gets counter, oh boy.

82 speed is pretty good for a Choice Scarf set. Lets you spam No Guard Stone Edge with impunity. Brick Break for Steels. That's about it, though. You can give it Taunt, I guess but that would lock you into a non-attacking move, which almost automatically loses you some momentum. Pretty much the only reason you'd use this is for the Choice Scar No Guard Stone Edge, as it's outclassed by midday form at basically everything else. This thing needs Accelerock more than midday.

Given the BST I wish they'd min-maxed this a little more. The higher defenses are really not high enough to offset the huge loss in speed from midday to midnight.

Stats don't mean shit without an ability

Its priority move and Sand Rush are pretty wasted on something that's already as fast as it. Quick Guard is also irrelevant in a metagame where Tapu Lele and the anti-priority abilities exist.

Meanwhile Midnight form gets one of the best possible abilities that nullifies Rock's inherent weakness as the "strong but inaccurate" attacking type. Speed is still mediocre but can be remedied with Tailwind support or a scarf.
