Holy shit at this autisct thread. Cosmoem's design is literally made to fit both; In Solgaleo the "armor" part expands and becomes most of its body, a robust physical creature, while in Lunala the core expands in a fragile ghost-like body, with only remnants of the armor/skeleton.

There's no way it can stay the same mass to become Solgaleo's head. Cosmoem is four inches in diameter, and weighs a ton (more than its final forms)- the idea of it becoming Solgaleo/Lunala is its body expanding, letting go of all of its excess mass and using the stored energy to make a new form.
