Things Game Freak did right:
>Doggo has day/night forms
>Espeon and Umbreon are in the game (and can even be found in the wild)
>Bellosom received multiple buffs and is even acknowledged in various ways across the region
>Lunatone and Solrock also received slight buffs

Then how they went full retard and fucked it up:

How does it work then?

My understanding was that it was a happiness evo, and that sun doggo needs to be evolved during the day in Sun version, while moon doggo needs to be evolved during the night in Moon version. And nighttime in Moon version is still daytime IRL.
