For all the doom and gloom people spouted months ago, Ash remains more or less the same, albeit more relaxed, and his enthusiasm is justified since he is a complete new land. Pikachu too seems as powerful as always, maybe even more, since he could stand against Tapu Koko.

Many people were willing to let XY's glaring flaws go if at least one of those didn't happen, but they did, relegating XY to a second-tier series instead of the top tier it would have been if it had ended properly.
