It talks a bit much and can come across as slightly annoying in personality but honestly, I don't mind it. It doesn't interrupt the game and you can easily ignore by not paying attention to the bottom screen, which is easy to do in this game.

This is what really bothers me. I thought Rotomdex would be an annoying Navi clone, but the real annoyance comes when you realize that they intentionally made the map so small for the sole reason so that you could see Rotom's eyes blink constantly.

They sacrificed UI functionality and ease of use for blinking.

I like Sun/Moon so far, but this is by far the gen that has made me say "But why?" more than any other. It's a seemingly endless trail of baffling decisions.

I liked the concept of a Pokedex possessed by a Rotom, but GOOD GOD did they fuck up the execution.

Why does this thing look like a reject from the set of Barney the Dinosaur? Yes, it's a kid's game, but there is a difference between a game that is "all ages" and a game that is literally "up to age 6". Practically all previous pokedexes in both the games and anime, while clearly had a toy-ish design, still actually looked like an electronic device that could exist. This thing looks like it was meant to be a plush doll on Sesame Street.
