Not sure if this falls under "breeding" or not, but from what I've heard chaining calls for help improves chances of shiny and guarantees at least 4x31's after a certain number. Is this true? Or do the pokemon just gradually get better in general, plus an increase in shiny chance?

Obtained a shiny eevee but man I've been chaining grubbins forever and haven't landed one yet. For what it's worth, I WILL be using these to get into breeding.

No, that's just not how it works with chains. When chaining, every time it "calls for help" if the current pokemon out has synchronize then the poke that is called has a chance to have the nature of the 1st pokemon in your party

It's glitched, though, because the 1st pokemon in your party doesn't have to be the synchronizer, which is out. Honestly, this is probably a programming error.

Best bet is Bank ones it's out, a lot of trading will start flooding in then. Gives people time to do postgame, dex, and setting the EMs/ball/etc and then going for IVs.

How much does 1 IV matter?
First gen that I've soft reset for IVs and I got a Pheromosa with 31/12/31/31/30. Will the 1 missing end up mattering in some cases? I checked and it should be the same as a 31 speed but will it matter for speed ties or something like that.

Does anyone have an extra ice stone they'd be willing to give up? I'm putting off challenging the E4 until I can evolve my Vulpix. I wasted the ice stone from Po Town on a Sandslash so I could trade for the Vulpix and don't have the beans to upgrade the mine isle :(

In that specific event, it matters a great deal.


I wouldn't worry about it unless you want a specific hidden power or if you are a prefectionist.

In Pheromosa's case specifically, the only time it will make a difference in an unboosted matchup is against opposing Pheromosa, since it has a unique base speed (151). At both lvl 100 and lvl 50 it beats max-speed M-Alakazam by 1 point. However, I'm guessing auto-losing to Pheromosa is probably a big deal if you will be using it competitively.
