There was literally no reason not to just have a little minigame that let you control your stats.

But nah throw together a whole Wifi system with a random shop mechanic, make some daffy ass overextended island system, and cap it all off with having to earn 96bp to get all the items required to fully train your pokemon, which you needed to do in the first place to even earn the points.

16 hours worth of Pokepelago gives your pokemon 252 EVs in any given stat. They had to bump these items because they would have become obsolete otherwise, since you can literally dump them at the island before going to sleep and when you come back home they'll be ready.

I was doing it mostly for the completely autistic desire to make the numbers for the lesser stats an interval of 5. I.E base is 128 boost up to 130.

Mixed builds do exist. Togekiss is a good example. It usually puts its points into defensive stats, but puts 50-ish into speed so that it can barely outspeed a few slower mons.
