Arcanine was always the number 1 lapras counter because outside of dragon pulse Lapras could barely scratch Arcanine while fire fang and fire blast rekt it.

Wigglytuff with pound and hyper beam out paced defending lapras due to higher HP and better attack speed.

Jolteon has the "it's super effective!" message and that's it, it cannot outpace iceshard lapras unless your dodge game is damn near perfect (which considering how bad gym lag can get doesn't seem likely).

This buff does fuck all to change Jolteon, other than making spazzes like you think he's good while the rest of us laugh at you.

Jolteon, Electrode, and Magneton got buffed though. My Electrode was originally at 1125 CP before being buffed, and was able to take down a 2500 CP Lapras.

I always use Gyarados with bite/pump against Lapras if I can. Gyarados is strong against both dragon and ice attacks and he's fast enough with bite. Even if pump is not very effective on Lapras, the speed helps to finish them quickly still.

Flareon now has 65 more cp. Flareon has better attack, defense.
Arcanine has better stamina.
With the best moveset for both, Arcanine has the better fast attack with better dps (same eps) because ember's animation goes on for too long.

Jolteon is made of tissue paper, we need a good bulky counter, which we can only get once gen 2 comes out.

It's amazing how this update apparently takes into account special stats more, yet Rhydon got a huge buff despite having shit special stats and grass mons with good special stats went down in cp.

Even if it counts speed more now (explaining the aerodactyl buff) that shouldn't take Rhydon to 3300 max cp.

Something reeks about this update, I imagine the new totals for gen 2 pokemon make things a little more interesting but I fear it'll still just be vaporeon spam everywhere....yawn.

Why can't it be? According to the list only one Pokémon was entirely unchanged, and that was Lapras. It's more likely that it is a formula, since I can't imagine anyone sitting down and saying 'yes, this 0.14% change in CP for Exeggcute is what the metagame needs right now'.

I think that the new formula just takes both minmaxed stats (whether it's the ratio of one attacking stat over the other, or just using the highest) and speed into account more. That's why Pokémon with high Defense but low Special Defense like the Rock-types and Cloyster got such a boost. That's why Kingler, with 130 Attack and 115 Defense (plus a respectable 75 Speed) got such an enormous boost. On the other hand, mixed attackers (like Victreebel) and mons with very similar stats across the board (like Clefable/Wigglytuff and Poliwrath) got nerfed.

Before, minmaxed mons like Alakazam got the short end of the stick because it was more about average stats. Now it's BST and the highest stat that counts, I think.

No, it discriminated equally against specialised attackers / defenders. Alakazam and Gengar were special sweepers with shit physical attack, so they suffered. But on the other end of the spectrum, physical specialists like Rhydon got buffs too.

But it seems that it doesn't change the fact that Pokemon with at least above average stats in both like Vaporeon and Dragonite still get way more benefits from CP than the other Pokemon so they just got buffed naturally as a result. It's why Vapes were already naturally high on the CP scale in the first place.

Both cucked by Niantic giving them dogshit moves (Magneton not getting thunder is horseshit).

Gengar is still trash because there's nothing for it to do, Alakazam is good for attacking if you get one moveset otherwise throw him in trash, same with Machamp.

Jynx Tauros and Hitmonlee pop up fully formed with a single moveset. Theres no risk in getting shit movesets you either got a good one instantly or you dont. Jynx and Tauros are also relatively common. Im not saying they are awesome but like a Parasect or Cloyster you can get a good amount of use out of them

Tentacruel got a pretty nice upgrade.It wasent huge but it was an already semi-useable Pokemon that just got stronger while not being too high on the rarity scale

Jolteon works against Lapras. It does its job, solely because of having STAB on one of its weaknesses. I fully believe you when you say that Jolt can take down Laprases considerably more powerful.

Still, that won't make start recommending Jolteon as a Lapras slayer. RK9 and Flareon has higher CP and thus their DPS is just about the same despite fire just dealing neutral damage. Their bulk is much better, once again because of higher CP but also because they resist ice, so unlike Jolteon, they won't be on their last slicer of health once Lapras is down. If anything, Magneton is the better electric against Lapras since it resists ice but also has Spark as fast move.

Many mons work against Lapras, but not all of them are ideal.

My old Slowbro and Victreebell that I kept around because I'm a Karenfag being nerfed has resulted in them being a pretty good level for Prestiging, and some old Rhydon that I hatched from an egg as a Rhyhorn is now the best Prestiger I have, jumping up from 900 CP
Don't know why I never transferred the Rhydon, I just liked the fact they'd been around forever and left them, and I'm glad I never now

New squad. All the vapes I've dusted shot to the top along, and my Bite/Pump Gyarados is now my biggest one while the Dragon Pulse variants is among the elite as well. Dusted the Rhydon until my candy rsn out, its IVs aren't above 81% but its has Mud/Edge so it'll do just fine. Both the Exeggutor and Golem has flawless IVs.

Honestly, my Nidos never had great CP. They weren't horrible, but my Nidoking was always 400 below my Vapes.

Maybe if you go through ten gyms a day and really run out of defenders, I guess. Here I don't really have this problem because walking to ten gyms in a row takes too much time and because I'll have lost half of them by the time I reach the last one. I just cash in my coins when I get 2-3 now.

I have like 100+ Max Potions because I try and use the lesser Potions more rather than throwing them away
