Yeah, the smart way to do the dex is to capture high encounter rate version exclusives like Vulpix or breed starters, put them up for rarer pokemon like Mimikyu/Marinie/Dhelmise. Once you've traded up you can breed them and trade en masse. Due to the different region/OT enhancing the egg production rate it's more efficient to rebreed stuff you traded for than to breed two mons from your cart.

Value is kind of messed up in non-legendary pokemon because once you get one of a rare pokemon you can get an infinite amount more trivially, so once one person in the market has something, it's only a matter of time before everyone in the market does. Legendaries are also really easy, you can always find someone to trade Solgaleo for Lunala just because of how you can get Cosmog 2.

Regenerator is the hidden ability so your going to need to fish the thing up first (not the Corsola method) and chain that way so it calls other of ti's kind.

Merciless is a really good ability the pokemon just has really really low attack. it's only ranked bad because the pokemon is so defensive oriented the other abilities are just better for it's role.

it's bagon level rare but can be fished. Corsola is just easier because the Corsola has 10% boosted chance in spots and it's coded to specifically appear when chaining.

if it's called via corsola chains it won't call it's own kind though. so you'd either need to get really lucky.
