Well, certain comments about Pachirisu aside, it seems as though half the Pikaclones were made just to capitalize on new features. Dedenne was a Fairy-type, Plusle and Minun were made to best fit in doubles matches, and I think the only decent offshoot was Emolga because of its typing and decent stats and even then it couldn't evolve.

If Togedemaru's usable, that'll be a welcome surprise.
