I love how they actually put effort into the plot here, and people are acting like the cutscenes are just an hour long black screen on the 3DS

Come on guys, they're worth paying attention to!

Having recently replayed Persona 4, it's quite hilarious seeing how hard /vp/ is breaking down over a bunch of short cutscenes.
I wanto to tie one of these people to a chair and watch they play through the introductory part of that game, or any other RPG with a slow character driven start.

That's a fair point, I guess.
I thought it was a good story even if it is an overdone one. And speaking strictly about Pokémon, it is a direction previous games did not attempt, so I do give it extra points for that. I like seeing Pokémon try different kinds even when said things aren't exactly original.

I will agree that the trials/totem pokemon replacing gyms is actually a really nice change of pace, especially when you consider that the totem pokemon and the kahunas are like ten times more challenging than any gym leader in XY.

I almost lost to Hau when I arrived at the third island and I'm USING the fucking exp share too
