Well, you still get the bonuses to XP growth, crit rate, evasion, and a chance to endure a knockout, so there's that.

Sylveon is the only Pokemon that evolves through pets. Everyone else evolves through the classic Happiness stat.

Never use babies in-game. I learned that the hard way during BW2. They take for-fucking-ever to get enough happiness to evolve into normal Pokemon.

Evolve him during the day time in your game.
