I played XY twice and ORAS, and I didn't encounter a single shiny.

The only shiny I've ever encountered was a shiny Moltres in LeafGreen.

I feel like all they've really done is made shiny Pokemon feel less special. It used to be a rare and sought-after thing. I guess injecting and hacking killed that in the water anyway but the current shiny encounter rates are way too high. Maybe they should invent something even rarer than shinies, like monochrome forms or something that are 8x rarer than a regular shiny.
