He does though. They took an interesting design and made it a fucking bug that stands upright, the armor only covers the torso and he's got some retarded looking samurai pants now for no reason. It's not nearly as aesthetic as the spider.

In fact most of the Pokemon this gen look like 3 different people designed mockups and they couldn't decide which was the best so they slapped them all together, taking parts from each. Especially the chimera, which I know is intended but it looks laughably terrible.

Araquanid is kind of horrifying since it has a wall stat spread and hits about 30% harder than Azumarill at the same time, but outside of trying to trap or spread status it doesn't have much ability to keep going against a water resist. Golisopod is probably a worse Pokemon overall in terms of team potential but is a lot more independent, it doesn't need anybody to cover a gaping hole in its role and could be fit into most teams without much adjustment.

Although I really prefer Araquanid's design a lot more, he doesn't look lopsided like Golisopod.

Vikavolt needs one turn of setup to bring its speed above a base 135 Pokemon (nature for nature).
Is it worth the setup? Almost certainly not, but if you use it in just the right place it's at least capable of accomplishing something after the setup, unlike say Decidueye who needs setup to be even dubiously useful.

Decidueye has Spirit Shackle + SD + Baton Pass. It'll at least have a niche in trapping stallers or walls, setting up, and passing to a sweeper. Vika may do some damage with base 145 SAtk, so it might not be as useless as we all think.

I find that even slow pokemon will almost always go first when I train them due to EVs. Considering that almost all alola pokemon are slow, how is vikavolt not holding its own? Is it really that bad for even in game?
