the handholding drops back off to X/Y levels for the most part (though I think that's still too much)

what is really shit is the obvious railroading. each island seems to have been built for a less linear game but then they realized they don't know how to make not linear as fuck games

I'd agree with you if it wasn't for the fact that the games got super fucking worldwide insanely popular with kids even when they were comparatively esoteric and weird and far less hand-holdy. and that was back before it was as easy to look shit up on the internet when stuck too. hell, Minecraft is considered a kids game now and a lot of its mechanics are fucking arcane and weird. kids actually like figuring shit out and kids are probably even more capable than adults at bashing their head against something until they figure it out.

I wish I had it but there are tons of screencaps of people complaining that ORAS was too hard, even with the EXP share.

There are people on /vp/, and I've seen this numerous times, that only play pokemon for breeding and actually want the game to be easier so they can blow through it faster.
