So were Ice and Bug made better this Gen? Are they halfway

They got good mons, but the type didn't get buffed. Slush Rush may do something for ice types, but I think Alolan Ninetales and Aurora Veil as a lead will have the biggest impact.

Bugfags made out like bandits this gen

Vikavolt got absolutely BLACKED by gamefreak.
Proud hero sacrificing himself to the shitmon pits in order to save the other bugs.

As a massive Bugfag, sweet.

Leech Life is a straight up better X-Scissor, but only a few old Bug types actually benefit from this - most would rather keep running Megahorn/U-Turn or are special. At least there's a bunch of decent-to-great new bugs.
Only significant Ice buff is Beartic, though Cryogonal and Vanilluxe definitely can't complain about theirs. Unless A-Ninetales magically proves itself to not be shit there are no decent new Ice types.

Crabominable is genuinely one of the shittiest Pokemon ever designed mechanics wise.

Leech Life becoming Bug Drain Punch is amazing, and with Ribombee being one of the few new mons that are actually fast, I'd say Bug got buffed moreso than Ice.

Bug got lunge, first impression, some powerful new bug/water types, and buffed leech life and fell stinger.

Yes both types got buffed. I think hail will see significantly more play but bugs won't rise until more of them actually get access to leech life. The distribution is terrible.
