I don't get it. There are a ton of side paths to explore

90% of people haven't actually played the game and are just parroting what shitposters say.

I meanwhile am fully enjoying this game and am sitting at a comfortable 94 hours played. This game keeps you busy

Not really, I clocked about 28 hours in and explored about as much as I could but most of the game was even straighter and narrower than previous gens. I still enjoyed the game despite this.

Same here. I explored every area I could before going to event flags and caught Pokémon. I'm 33 hours in and still haven't beaten the game. It's so fucking fun.

I personally felt there wasn't much exploring to be done. The paths were pretty linear and even when there were alternate routes I never found them all that interesting like previous games. The only other game I've had this sort of issue with was XY. The first island routes are literally all a bunch of brown and green. Also, I hate that there are now doors you can't enter

Where? I've been trying to explore every little nook, but you can't explore anything until the main part of whatever island you're on is over. There's always some NPC blocking any side paths. Or it requires a pokeride you don't have yet.
