Sort of. It gives those moves a chance to poison Poison types (who normally can't be poisoned), but since Steel maintains its immunity to Poison, it needs to use Status moves to poison those.

It works, funnily enough that's how i beat the totem one. Got a salandit to poison it. Though poison attacks will still not hit steel types, so nothing can happen there.

Its typing is still pretty advantageous in VGC, it has tons of useful resistances though the x4 ground weak will be painful with Garchomp running wild.
