I'd be happy/relieved if there were sequels but still a bit disappointed that they chose to nerf so much of the original game instead of making it just as good.

I'm honestly hoping for extended DLC. S/M has a lot of GB considering how much actual content isn't there and how many audio tracks have been cut since OR/AS.

I think the reality may just be that the games just aren't very good because its Ohmori's first attempt at being a director on his own. People will get bored of the games quickly and Game Freak will expect the popularity of GO to carry the franchise through to the next games, this is obviously despite the fact that GO's popularity is already over and it's not as big as they realize.

Before we jump to conclusions about size, we have to look at the facts and work out which elements of Sun/Moon take up which amount of space. Audio is almost always the largest part of a videogame and S/M has much less audio than OR/AS.

Ideally, we'd need a dataminer to give us the facts as to where all the data is and how much is left over. Last I heard the dataminers still haven't uncovered big chunks of the game's files, but that may have changed since.

Alola is smaller than previous regions, there are only 2 small caves and far less interiors than in any other Pokemon game so even if they did a poor job of compressing the region it shouldn't make much of a difference to the overall filesize.

The Switch is the new handheld and home console. They're not going to cannibalize their new flagship product just to keep making games for the old one. The 3DS is showing its age and GF can't even manage to deal with it as well as much smaller devs do(look at the load times, framerate issues, etc).
