I just checked the encounter list, and apparently they don't appear normally in the grass. Instead, they come to help out sometimes when castform calls for help.

Ah, checking it again, it seems both vanillite and castform are SOS calls only. I would assume from snorunt or sandshrew.

I'll try to see if I can find some more info on it.
