>Mega Evolution is the battle gimmick of gen 6
>Z-Moves are the battle gimmick of gen 7
What will the battle gimmick of gen 8 be?
>>29872034
There won't be one, as all conflicts will be solved via cutscene.
>>29872034Mega Z-Moves.
Physically controlling your Pokemon. You still have 4 moves set to ABXY but you move your Pokemon around an arena. Arenas could have different or randomized terrain.
You are a pokemon

Burst
Trainer held items and trainer commands
Battle Bond

That would be a nice plus
Mega Stones that are bathed with Z-Power. Imagine the bloodshed.

Fusions
Once per battle, if the Pokemon you have on the field is fully evolved, you can in a sense "sacrifice" a member of your party, which gets fused into the Pokemon you have out. They don't normally create a new design (that'd be way too much work for the designers), but rather the main Pokemon takes on the color scheme of the secondary Pokemon, as well as their ability, half of their typing, a totem-style size boost and a stat boost based on the secondary Pokemon's EV yield. For example:
>Charizard on the field
>"Fuse" Charizard with a sturdy Geodude in party
>Geodude-Charizard is a Charizard but bigger with a grey color scheme, Sturdy, and a big boost in base defense
>Fire/Rock type
Fusions and mega-evolutions are locked: you can only activate one in a battle, not both. For certain pairs of Pokemon they would do brand-new designs for fusions instead of color swaps, such as with box legendaries, gen 1 starter fusions, Sawk/Throh, Beautifly/Dustox, Plusle/Minun and so on.
Shit would be broken as fuck but I'd play it.

>gen 1 starter fusions
>specifically "gen 1 starters," not "all starters"
Fuck youfor being right
>>29872034
That thing from seasons 3 and 4 of Digimon where they became fused with it.
>>29872525Most of the unique fusion designs are for gen 1Only 55 new Pokemon, Game Freak apologists defend this because "they had to do more work for unique fusion models"Fusions (and especially legendary fusions) utterly destroy the metagame but Nintendo still lets them into world championships, wifi tournaments and the likeI'm so sorry anon

Something to do with types.
Synchro
>>29872445
Hey. That not bad!
Hopefully nothing, but let's give Gen 6 credit for a gimmick that was actually viable and wasn't just a neat thing to use during the story.
>>29872034
>An item that allows one Pokemon on your team to have multiple abilities at once, like the Enchanted Items OM but only with abilities the Pokemon can possibly have
>A bulky Gen 8 min gets Emergancy Exit and Regenerator
>A fast sweeper gets Adaptability and Protean
>A mon with both Huge Power and Pure Power or Filter and Solid Rock get their abilities stacked
>There is a new Parental Bond with Serene Grace and Iron Head
Sending your own Trainer into battle.
You can build your own Trainer from the ground up, but requires some grinding and exploring to find and/or win battles some items that unlock some other customization options.
You start off with incredibly shitty base stats, but you find items along the way that not only determinate the trainer's type, but also the trainer's base stat. They all have fixed base stats, just like other Pokemon. These "weapons" also have their own Level. If you level them up, you will unlock more moves of the same type as that of the item, which the Trainer can learn at anytime, just like TMs.
Abilities are learned by giving the Trainer "armor" These are hold items, so you have to waste their hold item slot because of it, and the ability is only active while you're holding the "armor".
While the trainer is still active as a Trainer, a Pokemon that has the EXACT same type (combination) as that of the trainer has, it gets a very small stat boost. (x0.25 or even smaller than that).

I unironically want this.
