In the case of the Cosmog line and Necrozma, it's because space falls under Psychic. Back in Gen 1-5 it was because Psychic was the general "magic" type and obviously demigods can do magical shit with their minds. Hopefully we'll see less of it going forward now that they've expanded Ghost and Fairy into different types of magic users (e.g. Decidueye and Marshadow have shadow powers, Oricorio-S and A-Marowak are spirit channelers, the tapu have magical domain over nature, etc.).

I mean, it depends on what angle you look at it from. To me, I see this thing as a monster in OU. If it's Uber, likely wont be doing much craziness.

Its stats are really well rounded. I don't remember the exact numbers, but it was something like

Spd: 85

Along with its ability being NotFilter, and its access to recovery, that's a fine tank setup. The speed tier means it access to Autotomize won't be wasted by any means, it could potentially run scarf, and it's got a expansive offensive and support movepool.
It's not really bound to one role, you can sort of customize it any way you want, almost like a personal mech
