Defend this.
I want to see somebody on this fucking board try and bend this in every way possible to make it seem like this passes for good gameplay, because I can not fathom how anyone with even a little experience with RPGs, or someone who even grew up with this series, is completely OK with the fact that you cannot walk for a minute without some character stopping you for some arbitrary reason.

People have defended the stops when it is for hand-holding you. Do you think they won't be able to come up with mental gymnastics to come up with plot stops?

There is no possible defense for this. It's one of the few things I dislike about this game, and I even like the story itself.
