Well I'm assuming you're on the second island. The pink nectar is found outside of the Battle Royal facility. The fire trial is in the area just past that. I'd say it's about the halfway point for the second island.

I believe it takes place at Festival Plaza. You need bottle caps and a level 100 pokemon. Silver (or was it Bronze?) bottle caps raise a single one of a pokemon's stats to what they would be if they had 31 IVs. Gold bottle cap affects all stats. Note that it does not actually raise the pokemon's IVs to 31, so Hidden Power isn't affected, and they do not become more useful for breeding.

A team of 6 attackers isn't great regardless, in your case one good physical wall will shut you down. That being said, few competitive Pokémon have crippling weaknesses in one of the defences, so it's not as vital as you think. You could be forgiven for thinking competitive is "Pick some strong bastards and slug each other" given the travesty that is VGC 2016 but a Pokémon is only ever good when it's team can take advantage of it.
