I don't know if someone else figured it out already, but I've managed to remove cel-shading from the leaked Moon ROM (aka "the black line fix")

If you want to remove cel-shading from your ROM too, here's a little tutorial:

1)Open hour Moon CCI file with any hex editor
2)Go to offset 0x00322748
3)Replace 04 20 80 E5 with 00 F0 20 E3
4)???
5)Profit

If for some kind of reason it doesn't work for you, it might be because the cel-shading routine is located to a different address in your ROM. In this case, search for 042080E51EFF2FE1F34F2DE9 in your HEX editor and try again, then continue from step 3.

If you're a newfag and you don't even know what a HEX editor is, no worries, I might make a patch soon.
>>
>>29785376
or, better yet, just wait till it releases and you won't need patches or romfixes
>>
>>29785376
What are those weird black circles around you?
>>
Why don't you w8 for the release date? if you w8 for 18th you won't EDIT STUFFS
>>
>>29785408
>>29785480

Wait for the release date only for cel-shading? Yeah, it definitely looks like a killer feature, doesn't it?

For fuck's sake, the game looks even better without it.
>>
>>29785465

A glitch caused by cel-shading on Citra. It happens on other Pokèmon games aswell.
>>
>>29785584
I see.
>>
Does removing cell shading add improve the fps?
>>
>>29786448
Apparently it did on the demo, not too sure on the final game. It should, to an extent tho - there's less stuff to render.
>>
Congrats, this is the exact same no lines code that was posted yesterday by kaphotics and shinyquagsire
>>
>>29786543
>I don't know if someone else figured it out already
>>
>>29785376
Can you upload the edited rom? I'm an idiot child and can't figure out how to do this properly

Anything that improves performance is nice to have
>>
>>29785376
that's not what cell shade means

that's cute and and all, but i still have to figure out how to convert my shit to .cci
i can convert to .3ds just fine with the 3DS2CIA converter but it just runs like hot garbage
>>
Make a prepatched .cia then people might care.
>>
>>29786798
CIA is useless, it runs fine on a real 3DS. I could upload a prepatched CCI tho

ITT: Retards who dont understand what OP did.

Anyhow, nice work OP. maybe this hints at a unshaded switch version like we had with Smash
>>
>>29786793
Did. Did you flip those around? Because I'd like a 3DS file of this and I thought it was impossible to convert that way due to the headers.
>>
>>29786918
No 3DS file, CCI only.
>>
>>29785376
is the performance better?
>>
>>29786950
Okay I thought so. The part that confused me was
>i can convert to .3ds just fine
>>
>>29786965
I've just tested it now, and yes. Far from stable 60 FPS, but it does indeed reduce lag in many parts of the game.
>>
>>29785376
>00322748
and just like that my lag is gone
anybody else experience this?
>>
>>29785376
Outlines=/= cel shading, retard
>>
>>29787217
Wow, I'm so fucking sorry for mixing that up on a quickly written post. Now GTFO.
>>
>>29785376
Good stuff. Seems to run a bit more smoothly, too, at least for now. Thanks buddy
>>
>>29786842
would like that.
>>
>>29785376
Still laggy, running on i7 4900MQ
>>
>>29785408
>implying they will ever remove the outlines
>>
>>29785376
Is there anyway to remove it on the .cia? Smash looked a lot better without it.
>>
>>29787288
They're not the same thing AT ALL.
Cell-shading is the quantification of light to create a cartoon effect.
>>
>>29788184
I know that, I was just writing my post quickly and mixed them up for who the fuck knows why. Shit happens.
>>
>>29787769
Haven't tried it, but it looks like the offset for the OUTLINE drawing routine is0x322088 in the CIA. Open it in a hex editor, go to that offset, follow my tutorial from step 3 and try it.
>>
>>29788519
I'll try it
>>
>>29789485
AAAAAND???
>>
>>29789805
installing
>>
>>29789836
do you test it on the 3ds? Nice, don't forget pics once it's done.
>>
>>29789945
yep, looks like it will take a while tho
>>
It's taking forever, welp
>>

>>

are you on an o3ds or n3ds?
>>

O3DS
>>
>>29790802
Nice
>>
>>29790897
Not really. How long shit like that takes on a N3DS?
>>

>>
Shame we can't just copy the games on the sd and play them. Pirating can be hard
>>
>>29791107
You can if you have a Gateway or a Sky3DS, but then you have to deal with online bullshit
>>
>A FUCKING HOUR
Thanks Nintendo, I guess. Restoring my save and will upload some pics in a while
>>
That's odd, I can't access NTR at all from Pokemon Moon.

It works fine on the home screen but it can't be accessed at all ingame, though it does work for basically every other game i've tried.
>>
>>29791212
I assume you're on an old 3ds. The game loads in extended ram mode (or however it's called..). So the os is not properly loaded thus ntr isn't working.

IT DOESN'T BOOT

>>29791212
Probably you are on a O3DS. It's because the extended ram module it uses.
>>
>>29791247
Ah, RIP then. Thankfully I'm not the anon who said he was installing so hopefully he has a N3DS and can post screens. No reason it wouldn't work though
>>
>>29791136
What online bullshit? I always tought firmware updates fuck them every now and then so never really paid attention to them anymore, appart from being expensive as fuck

>>29791286
You need a private header to play online with .3ds files
>>
>>29791166
"thanks nintendo"? what you're pirating their game and also blaming them for your pirating taking long? wtf
>>
>>29791332
Yep, but it's the same with eshop games, Kid Icarus too took a whole hour to install when I bought it
>>
>>29786496
YES it does. This actually made the game playable for me. It was like 5x slower than normal before, now its like 2x, and in battles it becomes normal speed, sometimes even faster.
>>
>>29791065
Wheres the link?
>>
>>29791508
Link of what? I was installing but >>29791263
>>
>>29791568
Ok OP said he was gonna upload the prepatched CCI.

I have the lurantis rom converted to CCI but cant find those numbers on the NEX Editor with the CCI loaded.
>>
>>29791644
not OP but i tried to manually do it and it crashes during the intro. the unmodified rom gets past the intro fine.
>>
>>29785376
I can't even find those numbers in my Moon.cci unless I use the wrong Hex editor.
>>
>>29792102
false alarm edited the wrong values.

>>29792255
I double clicked on offset and typed in the numbers after 0x. i'm using hxd.
>>
>>29785376
I used this, isn't it the same?
>>>/vg/159760463
>>
>>29785376
YOU ARE A GOD AMONG MEN.

THANK YOU.
>>
>>29785376
I get 48 27 32 00 for that offset
>>
the after picture looks like he just gained some fucking weight
>>
OP here, I had to go for a while. Gonna reply to some posts now

>>29791263
Strange, as >>29791284 said there's no reason why it doesn't boot. I double-checked the routine's offset and it looks correct.

>>29791644
I don't know if I'll be able to upload it (see how I said "might" in my post) but what I can try to do is to make a cheat code that does the exact same thing. This way it will work just fine without patching the ROM, it will literlly take a few seconds to install and it will surely work on real N3DS systems aswell (O3DS is still fucked due to extended RAM mode tho)

>>29795331
Yup, it's the same. As I said, I didn't know somebody else figured that out already. Well, it took something like 5 mins for me to find out, so I can't really complain.
>>
>>29785376
Can't seem to find either number on Hxd, halp please. heard this will make the game run faster.
>>
>>29798196
Double check that when you're using goto you're going to the right offset (must be HEX, not DEC). If you are, search for HEX Values (not string) 042080E51EFF2FE1F34F2DE9 and hopefully you should be able to find it.

If it still won't work, you might need to extract the code.bin file from your ROM and then rebuild it, but that's going to be one hell of a lengthy process.

Btw, apparently someone else has already made an NTR plugin for Moon that can disable outlines. If you've got a N3DS you might want to check it out: http://www.mediafire.com/file/w0xnnha5p7qibv0/NoOutlines.plg
>>
>>29798383
searching for HEX values worked, thanks!
Game's running better.
Also found another option if no one minds being a guy w/ a Litten and starting near the beginning

>>29798695
Those graphics look gorgeous. Now we just wait for a better citra emulator
>>

Apparently, somebody else has already made a cheat for disabling outlines.

[No Outlines]
0041B748 E320F000
D2000000 00000000

Put this in Citra and the outlines will disappear without patching the ROM.

Also >>29799324 yup, graphics look amazing with no outlines and scaled resolution (pic related)
>>
>>29795331
I followed the guide here.
The performance really did get a bit better
>>
>>29799433
Thank you so much.
>>
>>29799433
how can i add cheats to citra? All it asks for is the cheat name
>>
>>29801314
Type the name, click OK. Then select it in the menu and write

0041B748 E320F000
D2000000 00000000

in details. Tick the check box so the cheat will be active, then save.
>>
>>29801591
Thank you! The game runs much better now, although freezes when taking pictures. Just disabling the cheat for that did the trick though.
