I'm definitely thinking it's the third member of Solgaleo and Lunala's trio.

My guess is it is an Ultra Beast that came to the Pokemon dimension a really long time ago and has since sort of made itself at home here. So while technically an ultra beast, it has also lived in the Pokemon world for a significantly long amount of time.

It definitely has a connection to Solgaleo and Lunala and might have to do with eclipses or something.

I'm pretty sure this guy is our Rayquaza/Giratina/Kyurem/Zygarde of this gen. His story probably won't be expanded on until the next game.

think about it, a different world with different forms of pokemon (like alola forms) and the wild pokemon where would rank around the 80 to 90 level, no trainers, just strongs versions of them like totems and the UBs wandering around.

It's a UB that came to this world forever ago and decided to stay here, losing its Beast Boost the others gained from regular exposure the portal's powers
