The term "legendary Pokemon" isn't even used very often in the games outside of the version mascots. I don't think a Pokemon like Genesect has EVER been called "legendary" or "mythical" in the games, yet we consider it one.

It's almost as if there's a completely different requirement altogether to earning those titles and is something more complicated than looking at the root of the title.
