The protagonist you dont pick doesn't appear ANYWHERE in the game. Nowhere at all. For the first time in forever, it's like ""Leaf"". No appearance. No name.

That means the only place in which they ARE officially named are the demos and trailers. So in this case, if you absolutely need a name: it's Sun/Moon or Elio/Selene.

TL;DR The demofags were right because there is no other source for their name ingame because they are not an NPC this time around, and if you refuse to accept even that, then they are like Leaf and nameless.
